Biography
Deborah Lonnon is a British comedy writer whose work blends emotional intelligence, domestic dysfunction, and a sharp, quietly dark sense of humour. She writes character-led stories about midlife agency, working-class realities, found family, and the small absurdities that make survival possible.
Her work is informed by a late diagnosis of neurodivergence and years spent in complex, people-centred environments, shaping a strong instinct for character chemistry and emotional truth. She builds inclusive ensemble worlds with heart and wit, grounded in how people collide, connect, and carry one another — often sideways, rarely neatly.
Alongside her current slate of original comedy-dramas, she is developing a limited series inspired by the women at the centre of Beatlemania.
Originally from South London and now questioning her move to a fading seaside town, Deborah divides her non-writing hours between weightlifting (accompanied by an unnecessarily dramatic internal monologue about Lycra), hunting yellow-ticket bargains in the M&S food hall, and serving two pampered Siamese cats who firmly believe they are the true showrunners.
